A little catchup

Hey guys, last week was a bit on the crazy busy side yet again. I was the duty manager for my region (roughly 4000 sq kms) so I worked 7 days in a row and was responsible for around 350 techs, I call it hell week. To add to the fun, on Saturday I was also doing recruiting/interviewing people for a job with my company, we had just over 200 people there, I interviewed about 35 of them. Sunday felt like I spent the entire day on my cell phone, all in I averaged a call every 15 mins, it was brutal.
Sunday also happened to be my 2 year anniversary with my BF :) We ended up going to the restaurant we went to for our very first date. Well not the exact same one as that one is about 300kms away, but the same one recently opened up near our home. Overall a pretty decent meal, I almost filled up on the free nacho chips and salsa LOL (they were sooo good). As a present to both of us I ended up buying this really nice home theatre sofa, the ones where all the seats recline and each have their own cup holder and arm rest. I love it, I’ve already fallen asleep in it, the funny thing is our puppy doesn’t know what to do now, he is used to sitting on the back of the couch at the top where you would rest your head, but that isn’t possible now, so he wanders or if I have my foot rest out and the chair reclined he lays on my legs.

I finished reading Hogan's book last week and have now moved onto a new one. This one is written by General Rick Hillier (ret), he was the CDS (Chief of defense staff) for the Canadian Forces, for my friends south of the border it would be the equivalent of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. It's an interesting look at the politics behind the military, as he is IMHO the main reason of the about face for the military in the right direction. He had very strong views of what our military should and should not be and what would be required to get there and he certainly had no problems letting everyone know what his opinion was. Some would say that that was one of his main reasons he lost his job however, that he wouldn’t play the political games and that by just telling it like it is on a few occasions was a bit of an embarrassment to the Prime Minister and the gov't.

Well I’ve gotta get back to work damn year end reviews

started reading again

There's something about reading that really relaxes me, in the past I did it frequently but recently I had gone away from it and i've been missing that lately.  Well just before Christmas I heard Hulk Hogan on the radio a few times plugging his new book and well I was going to buy it and ended up getting it for Christmas :)  Now as some background info I used to be into wrestling huge, I mean i've been to countless house shows, I still remember going to shows back at Maple Leaf Gardens with my dad over 20 years ago, and I even had ring side seats for Wrestlemania when it was at the Skydome (still have my seat). I will say the book is a great read, I'm about 3/4's through it from this week alone, it is a great recounting of not only his early life before hulkamaina ran wild, but of the very public split with his wife (it's a very common theme throughout the book).  Overall anyone that was or still may be a fan, it's a must read, I'd put it up there with Ric Flairs book.

Been Busy

I've been really busy lately sorry for the lack of updates, on with the news.

Real World D.C. - I will say i'm not usually a fan of "reality tv" due to the simple fact that it is pretty much 75% if not more scripted.  Now that being said I started watching the show mostly due to the promo I saw.  There's a bi guy on it named Mike and his story really speaks to me, he comes from a Christian household, he knew at a young age that he was different but didnt really act on it till in his 20's, he has supportive parents but they have certain fears about how his life will be harder, and well he's hot :)  Our stories are so similar it's scary, even his reaction for his first time at the gay bar was pretty much the same.  It should be interesting, lets see what happens.

Busy Christmas

Well the last few days have been really busy.  I spent Christmas eve/morning at my bf's parents which is just over 200kms from our place.  It was a bit crazy, I find I like spending time with his side but there is always just too much drama there.  He has 1 older sister, 1 younger sister and 1 younger brother, everyone is totally cool with us and we get to be ourselves there, which is one good thing.  His older sister is a bit on the crazy side, she has a kid that just turned one, for whatever reason she is chasing after this guy that clearly doesn't want to be her bf, just fuck friends and he treats her like shit, but she still thinks he can do no wrong. Oh yea, he isn't the babies dad.  The younger sister also has a kid, he's just over two and she is engaged to the guy that fathered the kid, and she just found out last week she has kid #2 coming, and she just turned 20 recently.  And his brother is a nice enough guy, just not the sharpest tool in the shed, his gf is really lazy and whiney though.  Then his folks, nice people, just very different from my folks.  Everyone on my side has post secondary education, both of my brothers have their masters, my mom was a nurse and my dad started a very successful wealth management firm. On his side only his older sister finished high school, and even that I have zero idea how that happened. So yea we had very different upbringings that can make things difficult at times.

Back on track, so we do the Christmas morning thing and lets just say it took about 3 hours, there were many breaks, a few arguments, and lots of kids opening presents.  I say that because myself I got maybe 5 presents, my bf got like 7, and the rest got anywhere from 15-20, esp the kids, they must have gotten like 30 each.  Now dont get me wrong, the reality is I could care less, for me it's about being together and celebrating the birth of Jesus, the presents are just added bonus, but I did feel slighted.  I know my bf was really upset, we both spent a fairly considerable amount of money on them and really we got shafted.

We decided to head back here to spend the rest of the day with my family, where we enjoyed an awesome dinner and had a blast.  I know one of my presents my folks got me was worth more than the combined total of what I had gotten earlier, same for my bf, he was really thankful for it.

Next day we head off to a few malls for some boxing day madness, and it certainly was.  I couldnt believe the lines for some of the stores, I got a few things and we went back and ordered a bunch of stuff online, take that lines :)

Well I gotta fly, I got off track ...again, I know :) I have 3 more hockey games to referee tonight, it brings my total to 16 over the past 3 days, my knees are killing me.

I hate being sick

What a great time of the year .... to be sick .... NOT.  I had a cold last week and I thought I was over it, but it's rearing its ugly head.

On to good news, my hot tub has returned to me after being sent out for repair, I got it on my balcony, and filled it up last night, I hope to be able to use it tonight, man I missed it !
